Mexico Resort Coasts

Mexican Riviera aka Pacific Coast

Mexico’s Pacific coast, fondly referred to as the Mexican Riviera, stretches for over 4,000 kilometers along the western edge of Mexico, offering a diverse array of landscapes, from rugged cliffs and pristine beaches to lush tropical forests and bustling seaside cities. Along this coastline, travelers can explore iconic destinations such as Puerto Vallarta, Acapulco, and Cabo San Lucas, each offering its own unique blend of culture, history, and natural beauty. Visitors can enjoy a wide range of activities, including surfing, snorkeling, whale watching, and sampling delicious seafood cuisine.

The resorts along this coast tend to have little to no beach than those on the Caribbean Coast. Due to less available land, the resorts are also more high-rise and less sprawling. One other noticeable difference between these 2 coasts is that the Mexican Riviera has far fewer resorts that offer all-inclusive options.

We have broken this coast out in to 3 regions, each having a different vibe, culture and appearance.

  • Northern Mexican Riviera: Puerto Vallarta and Mazatlan
  • Central Mexican Riviera: Manzanillo to Ixtapa
  • Southern Mexican Riviera: Acapulco to Huatulco

Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula

On the opposite side of the country lies Mexico’s Caribbean Coast, renowned for its turquoise waters, white sandy beaches, and vibrant coral reefs. This coastline stretches along the eastern edge of the Yucatán Peninsula, encompassing popular destinations such as Cancún, Playa del Carmen, and Tulum. The Caribbean Coast is known for its stunning natural attractions, including the Great Mayan Reef, the second-largest coral reef system in the world, which offers unparalleled opportunities for snorkeling and diving. In addition to its natural beauty, the Caribbean Coast is home to ancient Mayan ruins, eco-adventure parks, and luxury resorts, making it a favorite destination for sun-seekers, history buffs, and adventure enthusiasts alike.

We have broken this coast into 4 regions, each boasting different types of resorts, beach and atmosphere. From north to south:

  • Costa Mujeres & Playa Mujeres
  • Cancun Hotel Zone
  • Riviera Maya
  • Isla Mujeres and Cozumel Islands

Both coastlines of Mexico offer something unique and unforgettable for travelers seeking sun, sand, and sea. Whether you’re exploring the rugged beauty of the Pacific Coast or basking in the tropical paradise of the Caribbean Coast, Mexico’s diverse coastal landscapes provide endless opportunities for relaxation, adventure, and exploration. From world-class surfing and scuba diving to ancient ruins and vibrant nightlife, Mexico’s coastlines promise an unforgettable vacation experience for visitors from around the globe.
