Our First All-Inclusive Vacation: Why Aventura Spa Palace Set the Bar
After years of watching friends return from Mexico rested, relaxed, and sun-kissed, we finally put our hesitation aside. In 2009, to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary, we booked our very first all-inclusive resort trip to Mexico—and wondered why on earth we had waited so long.
The Resort Experience & Sister Property Perks
Our debut destination was the 1,200-room Aventura Spa Palace. At the time, staying within the Palace Resorts network came with incredible perks, including complimentary reciprocal access and transfers between sister properties:
Taking a day trip over to Cozumel Palace—a smaller, intimate resort situated directly on the island—was a standout highlight of our stay.
High-Energy Entertainment, Dining, & World-Class Spa
The resort’s high-energy entertainment crew, known as the “Go Team,” kept the atmosphere vibrant from morning to night. They were friendly, engaging, and genuinely talented. On our very first evening, sitting on the beach while watching a fire dance performance set an unforgettable tone for the vacation.
Beyond the entertainment:
- Dining & Drinks: The food was high quality across every venue, complemented by top-shelf alcohol.
- The Spa: The expansive spa facility set a standard for relaxation that remains one of our all-time favorites.
On-Site Activities & Coastal Adventures
The property offered so much on-site entertainment that leaving the grounds was hardly necessary. Beyond lounging along the shoreline, our daily routine included:
- Outdoor rock climbing
- Ocean kayaking along the coast
- Beach volleyball games
Though the resort was acquired and redesigned into the Hard Rock Riviera Maya, this foundational trip established our love for all-inclusive travel and set an incredibly high bar for every resort vacation that followed.
