The United States consists of 50 states and several territories. Each state and region offers a diverse blend of culture, geography and recreational opportunities that make it unnecessary to leave the country in order to enjoy your favorite activity.

If you enjoy hiking, you could spend your lifetime doing so and not complete all trails. The Pacific Crest Trail stretches 2,650 miles from the Mexican border in California to the Canadian border in Washington. The Appalachian Trail spans 2,190 miles from Georgia to Maine. Finally, the continental divide has 3 trails that collectively span 3,100 miles from New Mexico to Montana.

By our count, we have 15 more states to go before we have visited them all, but Hawaii and Alaska are the states that top my bucket list–Julie may need some convincing on Alaska, but she is all in for Hawaii!
