Our first all-inclusive vacation

Posted on February 1, 2024May 29, 2025 By Traveler No Comments on Our first all-inclusive vacation
Resorts

After too many years of watching our friends come back from Mexico rested, relaxed and tan, we decided to put our fears aside, and in 2009 we went to our first Mexican resort. I can’t believe we waited until our 25th wedding anniversary to do this!

Our first resort was to 1200 room Aventura Spa Palace. At the time it was part of multiple Palace resorts and we were able to get free transports between our resort and Moon Palace Cancun, Sun Palace Cancun and Cozumel Palace. This is a beautiful resort and it set the bar really, really high for our next resort trips. In 2014 the resort was purchased and totally renovated and has now become Hard Rock Riviera Maya.

The entertainment team called themselves the Go Team, and they were always on the go! Activities in the morning, afternoon, and then at night, every single day. They were friendly, engaging, funny, and really talented. On our first night, we sat on the beach and watched an incredible fire dance that had us mesmerized.

Fire Show

The food was amazing, the alcohol was top shelf, and the property was absolutely spectacular! The spa is still one of the nicest we have been to–I am feeling relaxed just picturing it.

The resort had so many activities that we could do while there that we really had no reason to go anywhere else. And we really didn’t, except that we took advantage of visiting Cozumel Palace which was much smaller but was on the wonderful island of Cozumel. A few of the on-site activities we engage in were volleyball, kayaking and rock climbing!

What do you think?
